Pretty much.
It isn't a generic action movie though, it is THE generic action movie. It creates pretty much all the cliches- 5 minutes into the movie, Clive Owen kills a guy with a carrot (puts it in the guy's mouth and punches it through the back of his head), then says '... Eat your vegetables.'

It isn't a generic action movie though, it is THE generic action movie. It creates pretty much all the cliches- 5 minutes into the movie, Clive Owen kills a guy with a carrot (puts it in the guy's mouth and punches it through the back of his head), then says '... Eat your vegetables.'

Definately. We must all be morbid fucks here, but the entire audience (even the three little old ladies behind me) laughed our way through the entire movie. So many cliches and one liners, combined with the most innovated gunplay I've seen since Equilibrium and Hard Boiled, it's worth it.
Half way through Clive lands in a field (he was in a gunfight during a freefall from a plane), and looks around him, the area's covered with people he killed during the fall. The entire crowd laughed, we must all be sick or something. |
