MLK was just not having enough monies to pay the bills. They've apparently finished the upgrades and debugging today so I've been keeping watch. This is not a new shoutcast host btw, Sped was using them already before things got turned over to me. It's been real good until this bit of trouble.
The host Pool's Closed is on now has one of the highest uptime and customer service ratings. I've used them long enough to go through a couple major upgrades and numerous maintenance periods and even they had several problems like this in the process. Things got fixed and all went on just fine after that. The last host PC was on was decent overall but fubar'd the database on April 1st/2nd due to a server move.
tl;dr - It's Internets, shit goes wrong sometimes. Doesn't matter who the host is if you use them long enough, something will be fucked up eventually.
Anyway, this time however it's actually our fault it seems:
Your server was suspended for 1 days
Reason: breaking bitrate limit
128kb/s is supposed to be our limit, it always has been to my knowledge from when Sped first signed up. They just haven't enforced it previously like most shoutcast hosts do. I never mentioned it since I believe Scrotal Tuck is the only one who broadcasts above it and they've never bothered to say anything about going over before.
I can check if they'll raise our bitrate ceiling if it really is that important.

that's retarded. until then, just go at 128kb/s.
i always have, but who the fuck is shutting us down? i'll talk to the host and see what i can do. |
