Fact is, the whole point of /b/ died when it became internet mainstream in 2006. Originally, before that it was a haven of a form of humor you just can't get any where else. The typical user base were college students or people out of highschool, and allowed its users to be immature in an intelligent, funny way. Irony, satire and sarcasm is what was built on /b/. When kids started coming in who didn't understand this, it began to die.
While the spirit of /b/ lives on through anonymous, anonymous to is becoming corrupt with newfags becoming /i/nfidels, the scifag protests, and people taking shit way to seriously. |

Well, it had to happen at some point. You can't keep something that is awesome secret for too long, because eventually people tell their faggot friends how awesome it is, and the friends tell their faggot friends, and so on. In addition, a lot of people don't realize that good trolling is actually bad when it comes to keeping the fail away. When you troll another site well, all the fucking Sodaz's mom on that site who were either getting bored with it or just not capable of fitting in there will see you trolling and think your hot shit. They'll want to be just like you. So they do some mild lurking and, of course, think they're now capable of trolling. They're not. Good trolling isn't something you can pick up overnight with minimal lurking. And yet now you end up with fucking Sodaz's mom from habbo, gaia, runescape... every faggot corner of the faggotverse, showing up on your front door hoping to learn from the master. It was in /b/'s nature to eventually become cool. And, like Kurt Cobain, it eventually discovered that it couldn't handle its newfound coolness and became an hero.
Obviously we can't just stop trolling, and as long as some of us are smart, we're going to attract morons, so the fact is, any place the better portion of anonymous congregates is destined to one day be overrun by faggots. |

While failure and faggotry will naturally be drawn towards epic things, one of the reasons /b/ and Anonymous have suffered is neither ever planned to become as large as they did or to have the events which occurred.
/b/ was never originally intended to become anything. It was a board for posting random pictures. That's it. Anonymous never expected to get kicked out of 4chan's /b/ or to have to spread out among multiple sites. Or that things would grow to the scale they did.
