why do people still buy AMD? i mean intel is currently mopping the floor with them.  i know that the super haxor elite thinks that intel is super evil and will "borrow" your soul if you buy from them but id rather pay the same price for a better fucking processor instead of rooting for the underdog and hoping it gets better

Because AMD was kicking Intel's ass until about a year ago when the Core 2 processors showed up. So it's actually a very recent event of Intel becoming the better after years of AMD being on top. Concept of this kind can take a long time to fade. Just liek the "more megahertz is always faster" garbage.

I was wondering why, when I built the desktop PC I have now, the stats I was viewing online showed that a 2.8 GHz AMD outperformed a 4.0 GHz Intel.

Anyway, my Dual-Core 1.8GHz AMD outperforms my friend's Dual-Core Intel 2.6GHz, so I'll be sticking with AMD, thanks.

We both had 2 gigs of RAM, the same edition of 32-bit Vista (I forget exactly what it is, but it was the same, and yes I'm running 32-bit Vista on a 64-bit processor because that's what it came with), and the same video card. I don't know the specifics and the brand of memory and the motherboards, but for the most part, the machines were the same except for the processor.

It was a pretty informal comparison, we just ran C&C3 at full specs with the entire screen full of units, trying as best as we could to make the number roughly equal, but my laptop was faster by a noticeable amount.

I have a gateway laptop, with a intel celeron M processor. It originally had 256MB of ram, but I changed it out a few months ago to a 1GB stick.

My other computer is a POS hewlett Packerd that literally takes an hour to warm up before I can use it.
Right now Im still looking for good deals on stuff to completly redo it, except for the casing, and maybe the fans and power unit. It just depends on what I end up doing, but Im looking at going with a dual core in it in the next month or so, depending on how funds look.
