I got a HD serial ban on Second life, Im sure I can get myself unbanned by spoofing the number. So Im not worried about that.
What Im not sure of, is that Im sending my laptop in for warranty work next week.
Will spoofing the serial void my warranty, incase they check that sorta thing to be sure its an untampered with computer? Im waiting until after MLK day to send it in, but I just need to find out if I should wait on spoofing the serial until I get it back or not.

Google doesn't yield any information on this. I would err on the side of caution and just wait a week, and also ask them if this would be a problem.

Relevant to your interests. This program looks like it patches the kernal itself (your kernel will read the hard drive serial, and then let whatever program know about it that wants to), so that the kernel tells programs the wrong serial. I haven't tested this, so make sure you have your shit backed up.
